Taking the bus downtown was bittersweet this morning because I knew today would be my last day at the library (and my last day living in Rhode Island, so there was an additional layer of finality here).

Two things about this week were a bit unique.

This week's shift held an unexpected surprise.

As I was nearing the Brown campus this week, Allison texted me to let me know she had had to call out of work today.

I began this week sitting in on a joint meeting with the cataloging staff of the John Carter Brown Library and the John D.

This week I did a lot of regular old cataloging but also got to catalog maps, which are a different beast.

This week, I spent the day Judy Dowling and Donna Dorvick.

I've enjoyed my experience greatly so far, for my chance to gain some practical experience cataloging and also to see how a rare-books library operates more generally.
