Because we have a baby on the way, my partner and I have been trying to address some outstanding house projects before I give birth.

I have a dream: a Sonos-style multi-room speaker setup that will allow me to listen to my music library, but it must be… compatible with my self-hosted Navidrome music library[1] controllable from any device total local and independent of any subscription…

It has been hot as fuck this week which is extra unbearable when you’re pregnant and already uncomfortable all the time.

I picked up Shadow of the Tomb Raider in a recent Steam sale for a few bucks.

This has been another rough week.

I moved this site over to Eleventy[1], so I want to provide an update to the many posts I’ve written on the subject in the past.

Despite my commitments to blog more and keep up with my week notes this year, I have fallen woefully behind.

I fell behind on writing these up because I’ve been under the weather, so I’m doing a quick list for this week.

As I wrote last week, I’m switching up how I number my week notes: I’m now using the year and week numbers, so this is week-notes/2026/W1.

As a matter of business, I’m going to tweak how these week notes work starting with the next one (the first of 2026).

Doing I don’t have a ton to say this week — it was mostly a slog to get to Friday.

Doing I think I’m in the midst of a depression different from any I’ve experienced before.

Since last year, this blog has been running on Hugo.

Doing This week was absolutely overwhelming.

I started accumulating my music library in the mid-2000s by downloading shit off Limewire.

Doing I added a “bookshelf” (reading tracker) to this site!

This week was nuts.

Doing I’m doing better this week than last.

Doing I’m sick again (still?).

This is an amalgamation of whatever I can remember over the last few weeks.

This week has been rough.

I missed a week, so consider this two weeks of week notes.

This was the first full week of school, so naturally that consumed most of my time.

Doing I’ve backported the last of the posts from my old blog!

First up, a small update to my week notes format: I’m going to try to include a cover image with each post as a further homage to Never Hungover Again (from which I shamelessly stole the design of my site).

Doing I’m backporting a bunch of content from my old blogs so I can finally stop maintaining WordPress blogs.

Doing My desk upgrade journey hasn’t gone as planned.

I’ve been podcasting on and off for over ten years now — all shows that I’ve since abandoned[1], either intentionally or due to time — but I’ve kept websites for them up and running for archival purposes.

Doing I’m still working on planning for the college class I’m teaching in a few weeks.

Doing I’m teaching (adjunct lecturing) a college class in the fall for the first time.

Doing Joe and I visited some of his family with a lake house this week where my farmer’s tan became more and more pronounced.

Once upon a time ago (and a time, and a time), I had a podcast.

Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring released in 2001 when I was seven years old.

I moved domains, again.

I’ve missed a few weeks, so consider this my catch up post before starting my week notes up again… Doing I’m working on migrating off big tech companies — I’ve deleted all my twitter accounts and am in the process of migrating from Google Photos to a self…

Doing We had an unexpected snow day on Tuesday and then Wednesday off for Lunar New Year, which was a welcomed opportunity to relax at home.

Doing I bought a space heater — primarily for my office, which is uninsulated — and it’s a revelation.

I recently discovered some weirdness with my hard drives in my PC.

I had a friend over one evening for pizza and card games — mostly Fan Tan and Blackjack, which are almost the only card games I like.

I’m still reading Pride & Prejudice, but with the hubbub of the holidays, I haven’t made much progress.

Doing Unfortunately I haven’t been able to exercise much; partly, this is because I haven’t been making the time for it, but I also tweaked my right shoulder somehow and it’s been quite painful to use in every day tasks.

Doing I bought a new domain name — I’m not going to post it just yet — but I’m considering switching this site over to it.

Doing I went for a run with a good friend at an indoor track near me.

Since I moved this site to Hugo, I’ve been using an app called GitJournal to post from my phone.

Doing Joe and I ran a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning.

first week notes in a while so some of this might not be strictly “this week” Doing I turned 30.

2016 was the first year I was eligible to vote in a presidential election.

Doing I presented to pre-service teachers at my alma mater with a colleague!

I’m doing a condensed post this week because I have been so busy with work!

I’m doing two weeks in one post.
