With the release of 4.23.1, GTK’s renderer will come with a new feature that we’ve called snapping.

After more than 5 years, 1780 commits and 20k lines of handcrafted, artisanal Python code I am very pleased to announce Cambalache 1.0 !!!

In my last post on this topic, I explained the history of SVG in GTK, and how I tricked myself into working on an SVG renderer in 2025.

As is by now a tradition, a few of the GTK developers got together in the days before FOSDEM to make plans and work on your favorite toolkit.

GTK has been using SVG for symbolic icons since essentially forever.
