It’s a long way from Kampala to Kabale, 10 hours in a long-distance bus.

The source of the Nile river is in Jinja at Lake Victoria.

I am in Kisumu at the shore of Lake Victoria.

Makuru lake is a national park with a big lake in the middle.

Makuru is a town west of Naivasha.

Lake Naivasha keeps growing.

Hell’s Gate is a national park near Naivasha without any predators.

Premium class means a sear like in business class – a motorized seat that can go all flat, a little desk and storage, and a large screen with (Amazon) movies.

Mombasa might be a modern city but just a few km outside people lice in small villages, in houses made of a kind of wicker frame filled in with mud.

Well, people don’t come here for the sights.

In the mountains north and east of Chişinău are four exceedingly scenic monasteries: Capriăna, Condrița (who puts a diacritic on ‘t’?)

The islands are connected with sleek private ferries and with “government ferries” that look more like factory ships with a passenger cabin below deck, at 1/10 the cost.
