Ahhh...
-
Eggnob's been progressing pretty slowly over the last few weeks; between trips away and the scorching heat I've been too tired to do much level design, but I have sorted out all gameflow / UI stuff to the point where there's a "game", just one without many
-
The latest State of Unreal happened at Unreal Fest and, as I had a feeling would happen, the other shoe of Epic’s grand plan has finally dropped.
-
I've had a bit of fun with the Steam Runtime, this week.
-
Since, oooh, about Xmas time, my primary work environment has been Manjaro running on my Framework 13 laptop.
-
Been a busy couple of weeks, and gamedev hours have been few and far between, but I did have a few spare on Thursday, which I thought I'd use to bang out some Eggnob levels.
-
The Egg can officially be smashed.
-
It's been a right couple of weeks.
-
Ok, so this has been a thing, on and off, since I had the idea over Xmas.
-
Super busy month, again – who knew day-jobs would suck up the time I'd normally be sat in my pants, making stupid jokes to amuse myself – but I have snuck the odd bit of time in to do more EH500 hacking.
-
Xmas has been and gone, along with my plans to have a productive couple of weeks, away from the day job.
-
I hate doing tutorials, they’re time-consuming to do well, people skip over them, and it’s better to unfurl things in-game, anyway.
-
Back in 2022 I started a little side-project.
-
I've had a bunch of requests from people struggling to find the last few collectables in 2umo.
-
Well, it looks like the dust has settled.
-
It's been a long time coming, but yesterday was the big day...
-
Tutorials.
-
Yup, it's official, Lumo 2 will be released, on all platforms, on the 17th October!
-
Lumo 2 Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in… Well, I pulled myself in.
-
I’ve been in Finland for the last couple of weeks, having a bit of a summer holiday, and spending a few days at Assembly, in Pasila.
-
Lumo 2 So the game sailed through cert, first time, which was never really in doubt; Pocket Sized Hands are excellent, and the build’s been in great shape for months.
-
Lumo Journal 07.07.2025 2umo sailed through console certification.
-
I’ve been away the last couple of Friday’s, so I missed my blog-window.
-
Game Scaffold Normally, when I’m making stuff, I’ll spend the first few weeks on the three C’s – Character, Camera & Controls – then make a bunch of content to ensure that I’m happy with them.
-
I have one thing left to do on the character controller: a little montage to indicate that you can’t jump because there’s something above you.
-
One thing I like to do super early doors when I’m starting a project is settle on a font.
-
Ha, so I was slightly over-confident with my custom character controller, last week.
-
Lumo 2’s still in QA, but I’ve had a surprisingly low number of bugs to fix – three, this week – so I’ve started to ease myself into the next game.
-
Lumo Journal 25.04.2025 After thinking about the water issue for a while, I decided to bodge it.
-
During the early stages of Lumo 2 development, I leaned heavily on Ben Ui’s ImGui for Unreal Engine 5 fork.
-
Lumo Journal 17.04.2025 We’ve hit our first proper issue.
-
I spent a couple of days, this week, migrating from GitHub to Codeberg.
-
Lumo Journal 11.04.2025 The project seems to be in good shape.
-
Numskull Games pushed out the official announce and teaser trailer for Lumo 2, on Friday, which means the Steampage has gone live!
-
Lumo Journal 01.04.2025 The console ports are underway!
-
Toward the back end of 2022 I posted about my finances, and the need to build up a bit of a buffer via contract work.
-
Lumo Journal 26.03.2025 So, after a squirt during [[Week 90 - Post Content Complete Week 1]] I ended up having another lazy few days.
-
Here's a little sneak peek at what I've been working on:
-
Lumo Journal 12.03.2025 It’s been a couple of weeks.
-
It's OK, I'm not dead.
-
Lumo Journal 25.02.2025 Right, I’m calling it.
-
Lumo Journal 17.02.2025 I’ve had Sky-Diving on my “this might work” list since the beginning, so I thought I’d give it a go.
-
Lumo Journal 10.02.2025 Built two more Gilby rooms, but now that I’ve played them, I think aiming for ten was overly optimistic.
-
Lumo Journal 03.02.2025 Phil delivered the final masters for the main music, which I normalised, topped and tailed, and dropped in.
-
Lumo Journal 27.01.2025 Had a chum over for a few days, so naturally, he wanted to play the game.
-
Lumo Journal 20.01.2025 The Wizball Hub has been kinda placeholder since its creation, so today I decided to knock that off the list.
-
Lumo Journal 13.01.2025 Sat down to play the build on the big telly, last night, and guess what… [[Week 74]]’s flickering directional light problem (Willy’s Mansion) is back, with a vengance.
-
Lumo Journal 06.01.2025 I tapped up Andrew Lemon, over Xmas, to do some Ansi art for the various monitors that are dotted around Moonbas.
-
Lumo Journal 30.12.2024 It is time.
