arden's asides

August was a scorcher and heat makes me lethargic and depressed.

One of my current art inspirations is Katie Moody, a mixed media sketchbook artist who makes dreamy loose landscapes in cheery colors.

Whether you call it nosiness or curiosity, I have always been interested in peeking into what other people carry around with them on a regular basis.

Thankfully, since I last checked in, my back has been doing much better, though sometimes my bad posture still gets the best of me and I need to be more consistent with preventative stretches.

Despite having to go in for work, this is the first birthday I haven't been flooded with anxiety for a long time.

In second grade, I borrowed The Tale of the Two Bad Mice by Beatrix Potter from our library and was utterly enchanted by her darling watercolor animals.

It's not that I fell off reading so much as blogging.

When people ask me what got me into writing poetry, I always say Emily Dickinson.

So, where have I been?

At the beginning of the year, I set out to complete a curriculum designed around Birding in my Backyard.
