shen's world

here are a few lovely web sites people i've recently added to my button wall!

this event is organised by smallweb.dreamwidth.org for which i have registered.

i have to admit when i first started making a list of people who had answered the 100 questions for webmasters by MOUSEcky, i had no idea it would get this big and webmasters would still be emailing me months later with their links... my list now contains…

well i didn't manage to get anything done for html day this year, so thank you to Ross A.

bit out of sorts today. anyway here is my attempt to contribute to the mixtape pixel club by ChAoTiC gOoDe: (i don't think i can get anything done for html day, but then i don't really need a special day to write html)

i've updated my 100 questions for webmasters page a bit because a handful of my answers were aging like milk already (unlike myself, natch.) and just when i thought i'd collected everyone else's answers, i've found four more: gg8473.com, layercake.moe, lu…

The Murder of Aimee Pike

added seven more links to my big list of people answering the now-legendary 100 questions for webmasters, so that's now 80 webmasters on the list and 8,000 individual answers, cool!

well, this update was supposed to be about a new shriny-type page i made on a lazy morning about the dinosaur on the bench. however, the situation is spinning out of control developing rapidly... before i went to press with this update, Polyducks had alre…

a little bit of creative procrastination, i've created a new 88x31 button campaign just for fun: go click on a wall!

finally got around to tidying up a few more of those pesky unsorted links that are cluttering up the homepage!

to celebrate my new domain name i've made myself one of those little all-in-one contact pages with all my info in one place (uh, you know, should anyone need it...) connect like this!

among some of the changes ive been trying around here is to break some of my content into smaller, stand-alone html files. so i wrote my own little js utility called loadexternalstuff.js and documented the whole process in my dev notes.

i think i've finally done it!

i don't really understand what's happened, all i did was: register a domain, create an A record pointing to neocities, reconfigure neocities with the new domain... and suddenly my entire site has redirected to https://shens.world/ wtf :)

i feel like i should post an update now to avoid getting overwhelmed by the next update. so i'd like to welcome some new web sites to my neo-neighbourhood: zabnik in the void is the first place i saw one of my backup reminder buttons in the wild!

my procrastination almost complete, i created the admin panel admin panel to try to save my poor brain make sense of my "workflow."

.

my latest artistic graphical project is to finally get around to making some new 88x31 buttons for my site. for some reason ive never been able to settle on a single, definitive button style so i think im going to keep my button project open as a sort of…

a quick javascript demo to answer a question on reddit.

it's almost the end of June, guys. so here's a friendly reminder to backup your files!

well my homepage rejig is happening whether i want it to or not. it's (obviously) still in progress but i feel like it makes more sense already. meanwhile, ive been finding yet more awesome web sites and (as always) organising a few links. new sites added…

amber heat warning?

it's world cup season so i searched on gifcities for old football stuff and, well, it turned into this.

i've been collecting some humbling and inspirational feedback from you guys over the past few weeks, thank you!

neocities went down for several hours yesterday. all the details are discussed on the subreddit, but tl;dr: namecheap mistakenly disabled the entire neocities.org domain. i have a backup of my files, so i could have relaunched or mirrored the site on a di…

created a little javascript util to convert a Date object into a nice readable string like "3 hours ago" or "6 weeks ago", etc.

catching up with some admin. fixed a few minor html errors on the home page. i'm valid, baby!

well, ive fallen down another (very deep and very fascinating) rabbit hole today... i've discovered 100 Questions for Webmasters by MOUSEcky (via Starbug) reading through the questions has brought up plenty of issues and memories, so its going to take me a

so i've finally been approved for joined some web rings: html energy, no ai, and rewild the web. the wikipedia describes web rings as a relic of the old web, which makes me feel.... well, let's just say this isn't the first time i've joined a web ring. an…

added a short (ok, it grew a bit longer than intended) technical note about my recent, emotional reunion with rss.

woah, i must have forgotten rss even existed!

created a guest book using atabook.

neocities seems a bit broken today :( it's ok now.

created Sharky & George shrine (wip). uploaded wristcam archive. customised 404 page. moved dog+house to new page (trying to declutter the homepage by making more pages.) added ascii banners. added some new banners to pokémon page. changed link maker to s…

ive made loads of updates around here in the past few days: rejigged the home page (then rejigged the homepage, then rejigged the home page again). tidied up CSS and simplified a lot of code, which i'll most likely rip apart again next time im editing rea…

hung a few old cats & doodles in the art gallery (which was also a fun little exercise using css flexbox) • Dad Jokes🤣 new!

ive joined neocities to create a personal web site of my very own... welcome to my world!
