I've been working on my FALLiNGWATER project, writing code that allows me to spit out files for the Riso printer.
-
Time to print some more notebook covers, to get me to the 32 notebooks I want (that I still haven't worked out what to do with yet).
-
A couple of the photos I took yesterday (I was in a rush) were out of focus, so I've grabbed a couple more before heading down to London.
-
Also printed some pink & green 8-up A6 cards.
-
I tried printing at a single A3 size, then 2-up with two A4 prints on a sheet.
-
Popped into the other studio to have a go at printing out some of the FALLiNGWATER designs.
-
The Riso prints won't look like this, of course, as riso has it's own whole look and feel.
-
Had a chance to come back to this code and so glad I did.
-
Yup, another Vestaboard shot!
-
Seven of the eight notebooks have come back from home all sewn up, the last one was missing a page so now it has to wait.
-
Started printing the second batch of covers and paper for the notebooks, mainly so I have something to take home and sew as I'm avoiding doing computer stuff in the evening.
-
The whole point of this was so I could stamps some cards that said "No Need To Reply To Art Mail", which is a semi-fun note to include in things when I send some art, along with a more detailed explanation telling people that they shouldn't feel that they…
-
More of The Hitchhikers's Guide to the Galaxy.
-
Getting it to stamp a bit of Douglas Adams
-
The problem with stamping is you have to keep changing the stamp once you've finished with one letter.
-
I dusted off the stamping code and improved it, a lot.
-
Back on the Vestaboard today.
-
A new copy of Syllabus by Lynda Barry arrived.
-
Even Kitty thinks it's too hot in the studio (peaked at 32.9°C)
-
One of the other "Floodland" prints I printed out just to get a sense of the design at larger than screen size.
-
Got the first batch of FALLiNGWATER notebooks done.
-
I made a second revision!
-
I realised that when I was home sewing the notebooks on the sofa that I'd be putting the needle and thread and snippers and so on down randomly around me and then they'd get lost and finding them was both dangerous, and slowing me down.
-
Here are some more details from the riso version.
-
Again, not quite sure where this one belongs, at the moment it's a new generative art project that mainly lives in the laptop and on screen, so most of it is happening there.
-
In what looks like a very professional as though I'm going to sell them way (I'm not), I printed out some tiger cards on the Riso printer.
-
Another one of those of those projects where I really should go and back-fill all the information we have about it so far.
-
After printing all the colour combinations I've fallen a bit in love with the pink and green combo.
-
Big job today, finally printed all my Riso colours with each other (including themselves) so now we have a reference book (I put all the prints in a book) we can look at to see how the colours work together.
-
Time to make another small batch of notebooks, as I'm trying to make Tuesday and Thursday evenings screen free times, and so I need something to make and do.
-
Each day I start my day job at 10am, but get into the studio around 7am, giving myself three hours each morning to do my own thing.
-
And there we go, all the rest of the zines done!!
-
Here they all are!
-
Next is to trim the zines down to size, another moment where I worry about screwing everything up, lol!
-
Got them all stapled!
-
Popped into the studio this morning, to make sure I got all the zines done in time to send off on Monday.
-
I wrote a bit about this over in Zines, but I thought I'd put them here too as they're also Riso prints.
-
The last bit of trimming, and rounding the corners and I have the finished zines.
-
And here are some shots from inside.
-
Next step, cutting all the pages up.
-
Now I have to figure out if these go in zines or riso prints 😁 I think this one is more zine that happens to use riso printing, than riso printing in zine format.
-
Just a quick update today as I've spent pretty much most of my day working my "day job", but I did managed to put one of each print into these folders as I can keep a clean and hopefully undamaged version of each one.
-
Over the past couple of days I 3d printed some more shelves, this time to hold A5 paper and cards.
-
Classic colourful words over a black halftone image.
-
This doesn't really fit under any of the other projects and I've been thinking about adding a "life" category anyway, so I guess it's here now.
-
Okay, phew, each colour with each other colour.
-
I can post these now, lol.
-
OMG these are so tasty!!
-
I've refined the pen holder design a little bit.
-
Because I want to test each possible two colour combination I've written a bit of code that generates these random layouts of circles and squares.
