I’ve written before about building agents and calling tools directly, but up till now I’ve largely avoided MCPs.

Previously, I had just cancelled my Claude Pro subscription, successfully installed Aider, configured it to point to my local model of choice (Qwen3-30B-A3B-Instruct-2507), and interrogated it about my horse racing datafile parsing project.

🎂 Birthday present to myself, I signed up for a Claude Pro plan, ready to learn.
