The Life of a Grub

It’s been a second since I’ve posted one of my own (I’m still drawing them occasionally here and there on notepads and receipts), but I’ve been talking to Jen Kershaw about using some of their art for a Foofaraw cover and politely demanded they make a Grub

The excellent writer and Anecdotes of Delightful Happenstance & Dilemmas over at Foofaraw, Nicholas De Marino, whipped this amazing Grub up for me.

Forgot to post this wonderful Grub I received from Robb Knight in the mail for a donation to their St.

28 Nov 2025 Well I was on a huge roll through the end of last year and into this year, making it to #700 towards the end of March and then completely stopped.

I drew this one awhile ago, and while it’s nothing special, it wasn’t themed to a specific day and I liked it enough that I decided to save it for this huge #700 milestone.

Took some inspo from Instagram user @galvosaur, who is doing March of Robots, for this grub.

Besides my Kagi Doggo Grub getting featured on Kagi (and The Verge) this week, it’s been pretty lackluster and disappointing.

I haven’t actually seen the movie yet, but given it’s the most recent animated robot in pop culture, it felt like an appropriate robot to do for March of Robots.

I think this one is pretty obvious… it’s 3/14 Pi Day… I recommend checking out this post from Ironic Sans about how Pi Day effected his blogging.

I’ve found myself less productive for foofaraw now that I’m without a day job than before.

Whelp since it’s both March of Robots Monday and MAR10 aka Mario Day, we get a bonus Grub as Mario today.

This one goes waaaaaay back to 2014.

This one is hopefully obvious as it’s R2D2.

Drew this during the week, but it was one of those weeks where I couldn’t get much done at all… Was really struggling.

Last night Maique posted about his Sharesub for Kagi getting cancelled.

Drew this one yesterday for no reason in particular.

Here’s a Grub from last year I did in honor of the Oscars.

I’m not following the “official” March of Robots where there’s a prompt for every day of the month.

I didn’t do a full weeks worth of Grubs this week, so this one is inspired by all the Scooby Doo my wife and I watched yesterday as we took it easy after a not so great week… Tomorrow kicks off my March of Robots (Mondays).

I’ve already written more than I probably should have publicly about my situation… oh well… Doing my best to try to stay positive and motivated to make things while I have the time.

Grub Cover If you look very closely, every single eyeball on this album cover has been turned into a Grub eye; plus there’s one grub drawn in there too, but the eyes is what took the real time and effort.

Grub Cover My album of the week for foofaraw was Sunny War’s Armageddon in a Summer Dress so I was inspired to turn the flamingo’s on the album cover into tiny little Grubs.

I had heard the name Mike Portnoy before, but never actually listened to Dream Theater or any of his other bands.

Gah!

April 2024 April 2021 July 2016 May 2015 Cubs first Spring Training game of the year was yesterday so here are four Cubs related Grubs from the past.
